Cases of swine flu, which has killed people in Mexico, have been confirmed around the world. With experts scrambling to develop a vaccine, there is concern at the potential for a pandemic affecting millions of people.

Since the beginning of human civilizations humans are affected by so many contagious diseases. Plague, malaria, cholera, pneumonia, dengue and small pox are some the diseases caused by virus & bacteria infection.

The latest threat to humanity is the swine flu caused by a virus. The first case was reported at mexico in late april 2009. The US was the second country to report swine flu death. World Health Organization has announced today the spread of virus a phase five 'Pandemic'. Here is the wikipedia definition for pandemic.

A pandemic (from Greek παν pan all + δήμος demos people) is an epidemic of infectious disease that spreads through populations across a large region; for instance a continent, or even worldwide.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a pandemic can start when three conditions have been met:[1]

* Emergence of a disease new to a population.
* Agents infect humans, causing serious illness.
* Agents spread easily and sustainably among humans.

A disease or condition is not a pandemic merely because it is widespread or kills many people; it must also be infectious. For instance, cancer is responsible for many deaths but is not considered a pandemic, because the disease is not infectious or contagious.

My birthday

Today i celebrated my birthday with priya. We went to mettupalayam pathirakali temple at noon. We had lucnch at hotel. We went to the surya's film Ayan at sri sakthi theatre. Thus the b'day was over.

Vellingiri Tour

I have just finished a trip to vellingiri hills. Vellingiri is situated some 25-30 kilometers west of coimbatore city. It is in the poondi villagae Near siruvani dam. Isha yoga is another attraction here. We started on the night of wednesday 22nd april 2009. Prathosham day favorable to lord shiva. Me, venkatachalan, kumar, ponnusami and bharathi started at 10 pm from karumathampatty by maruti 800. We reached the base at 12 am. we ate some uthappam there. we started climbing at 1.30 am. we worn out quickly. There were 7 hills to be climbed. The first hill ends at vellai vinayagar temple. There is no proper foot steps to climb. The path was rough and dangerous. Anybody makes a fall has less chance to be alive. We reached the water pond at 5 am. Many took bath. We reached the peak at 6.15 am and viewed the sunrise from there. Descending was tough. We prepared sticks and started at 7.00 am. We had chappathis brought by kumar. The great hill brought everyone to their knees. Guys started waling in four legs. After several stoppages and refreshment we reached the base at 12.40 pm. We prayed the lord and set out to home. The day was announced as bandth by DMK for Srilanka Tamil problems. The fighting at peak and only 8sqkm was in LTTE hands. I have enclosed few photogaraphs of vellingiri tour.

Election & Marraige

Two important events take place during this period. I am getting married on may 28th and loksabha (parliament) general elections take place during april-may. Election is conducted in five phases. First phase finished on 16th april covering kerala and few northern states. Last phase will be on 16th may covering tamilnadu. New government will take office in early june.
We are distributing invitations for my marriage. We traveled almost 500 kilometers and distributed over 150 invitations so far. Kilakala thottam maniannan, minnakadu maniannan periamma accompanied us.
Yesterday i received 'A textbook of varshaphala' from new delhi based 'oscar publications' by placing order online at www.indianbooks.co.in. The book cost 260 including courier. I expect to finish the project this week.
I am afflicted by severe cold&cough these days. The immunity is low, morale is low. Life is not worth living :(
We have planned to goto vellingiri tomorrow. Bharathi, ponnusami, me, kumar make up the team. South kailash is worth visiting.

Money Matters

Two heavy any emotional days have gone over the money issue with mother. I think Rahu has shown its effects. Painful days are not yet over. May god bless me

Magento and online store

Yesterday i read something about magento, opensource online store software. I have already known about zen cart, oscommerce, xcart. But this magento is new and quickly picking momentum. Everybody talks about it in opensource store market. I really wish to open a store of mine. I hope to get some improvement in my life by doing so. This would be really new in coimbatore even tamilnadu. Most people started purchasing online and this trend will increase in the future as well. I don't really know what kind of stuff could be sold and how could i procure it. If this business picks up then it would be a turning point in my life. My GOD bless me.

Learnt cooking

Today i learned how to cook rice in a rice cooker. Because today morning every body was out of the house and the rice was not cooked and left in the cooker. Vani went to logu's function and i lit the stove and put the cooker. It was a simple task. Just rinse the rice well and put 1.5 cup of water for 1 cup of rice. Close the cooker lid and put on the stove. When the steam starts coming out put the weight and wait for the whistle. Rice is cooked. This is the great science of cooking. Women have cheated men all these days by doing this pretty easy job.

After a long time

I have not written anything in the past 2 months. Its a long gap and iam writing now. There no specific reason for not writing a post. It is not real that i had been busy all these time. Nothing remarkable have happened. I have not yet completed the Horoscope Explorer project which i started on Feb-16. I have to purchase a book varshapahla and waiting for the book to arrive. Profession is not faring well and iam now in mental anguish and pain. Meanwhile marriage invitation has been printed and arrived. Today the started distributing.
